Hey guys! Anyone else notice how incredibly slick the roads get around ABC Highway as soon as a little rain hits? My 2016 Suzuki Swift RHD import skidded slightly this morning near the Garfield Sobers roundabout. My tires have decent tread, but they are generic budget brands. Should I switch to premium wet-weather tires for maximum safety here?
Wuhloss bro, you definitely need good tires on this island! Our roads are made with local limestone aggregate, which polishes smooth over time. When you mix that smooth stone with grease, oil drops, and a light shower, it turns into an absolute ice rink. Budget tires from overseas don't have the soft rubber compound needed to grip our slippery Bajan asphalt. Upgrade to a brand like Michelin or Bridgestone immediately.
It is not just the tires either. Make sure to check your rear suspension bushings and shocks. If your rear end is bouncing or loose, it will cause the car to slide out much easier around those roundabouts. I learned the hard way last year in St. Philip and ended up in a cane field. Inspect your suspension regularly because the potholes here are brutal.
@Wreck_Expert_BB Thanks for the explanation man, I didn't know about the limestone aggregate issue. I am going to call a tire shop in Wildey tomorrow to see what premium options they have in stock for 15-inch rims. Safety over savings any day!
